Minimal Desk

In mathematics and topology minimal surfaces are defined as surfaces with zero mean curvature. A minimal surface can be easily observed by dipping wireframes of various shapes into soapy water. The film, which then forms inside the frame, takes the simplest shape, minimizing the surface tension. In addition to mathematics, minimal surfaces are also studied in architecture: paraboloids and hyperboloids are well known types of minimal surfaces. I started this project by studying the gyroid surface. Different organic shapes are created, by mirroring and repeating only one pattern. The result of this project is a desk concept you can see below.
